Martin Heron meets MK's budding artists
As part of his community consultation engagement, artist Martin Heron, who has been appointed by developer, Places for People and Milton Keynes Council's Arts Unit to create the public works of art for Wolverton Park, has been spending time with some of the city’s young artists. Martin aims to create a public artwork that brings communities and generations together to celebrate the history of Wolverton Park , the new development incorporating historic Grade II listed railway buildings.
Shane Ferdinando and Stephen Charters, from Milton Keynes’ Urban Art Academy, showed Martin their own works of art.
Commenting, Martin said: “I found the guys inspirational in their dedication, knowledge of their craft and creative thinking. I think there is wonderful opportunity to create a positive impact with this art form by involving them in projects in Wolverton and Milton Keynes as a whole.”
Jaime Jackson, Milton Keynes Public Art Coordinator said: “This is an example of how a public artist engages with different generations to bring together people in a creative project that celebrates a community’s strengths.”
