Over 3,000 enjoy Family Fun Day at
Wolverton Park!

As the temperature soared so did the crowds as thousands of people enjoyed the sunshine and a host of entertainments at Wolverton Park - once the home of the Royal Train and now a development of stylish homes with  a large park, eco pond and shops, restaurants and bars opening soon.

The event was part of Milton Keynes’ Heritage Weekend and families came from far and wide to take part in the fun – helter skelter, falconry, crazy golf and glamorous stilt walkers were among the entertainments with the street entertainers proving a particular hit with everyone.  There were food stalls and a secure children's play area: it was a  day was packed with variety.  Guests generously donated to the Milton Keynes Community Foundation, which raises funds for distribution to local charities.

While the children enjoyed the fun, many grandparents remembered with nostalgia the remarkable buildings that had been the hub of the Railway industry.  The Royal Train Shed, the locomotive workshop and the Reading Room have all been sensitively preserved and refurbished by developer Places for People.

“It was a wonderful  day, with a real festival atmosphere and fantastic to see the park in use again and full of people enjoying themselves – just like it would have been in its heyday” said Places for People project director, Ian Troughton.
